KSKS Goodies!

Look what came in the mail today! Aren’t I lucky?

My secret pal was Valerie, and she did such a wonderful job on my kit! (I, on the other hand, did a terrible job photographing it. I was too scared to go outside on the deck (see last night’s post) and take advantage of natural light.) I really love both sock yarns – the pink one has aloe in it! – and I’m sitting here trying to convince myself that I really need to finish the gift socks I’m currently working on before I can even swatch the yarn. I was thinking that the crazy stripey yarn looked kind of familiar…and then I realized it’s all the colors I’ve just redecorated the living play room in:

(Remind me not to leave my finished socks laying around on top of that blanket, or I’ll never find them.)

Thank you so much, Valerie!

And…

I don’t have to feel guilty about getting my kit, because Carrie and I went to the post office this morning and mailed out my pal’s kit:

I had the hardest time giving this bag away, because I love the fabrics and how it turned out. I really hope my pal loves it just as much!

Oh, pretty yarn! Sarah, I googled the term “Anouk” a week or so ago as I was looking at images of Knitty’s Anouk. I was trying to decide if I wanted to do the traditional orange colorway or something different and was looking to see what was out there in the cyber knitting world.
Lo and Behold, I came across your beautiful Anouk and what impressed me about it was how you did the pockets. You said you “knit them on” and it looks to me like then you didn’t jus sew them on afterwards. I learned to knit a year ago from the internet and have had no formal training. Everything is by doing or reading about online. I have tried to google “knit on pocket” and other terms to try to find an online tutorial or an explaination of the technique.
I may be over thinking this as it could be a simple thing. A good friend told me that if you think about how to knit something it won’t work, but if you just do it it will and in so many ways that is true. Sorry for making my wordy post so long. If you don’t sharing with me how you knit the pockets on could you email me earthravin at sbcglobal dot net?
Also, if you are interested I have set up a bulletin board for people who are into fiber! It is for knitters AND crocheters, spinners, weavers, all things fiber. I am not sure if that is something you are interested in, but I posted the details about that on my blog. Wendy :)
