Strong Museum

We went to the Strong Museum today with Mary, Lou and the kids.  Carrie had a blast showing her cousins around the museum, and the adults all had fun in the new arcade game exhibit.  For the record, I really suck at arcade games, but I played Tetris, Q-bert and some multi-player racing game that Denis totally beat me at.

Then we met the rest of Denis’ family at Champps – considering we had 8 kids in our party of 16, it went amazingly well.  And the mile high ice cream pie was an enormous hit among all the kids, including Anna!

Now off to decorate some cake…

Time

I remember, as a child, whole afternoons that seemed longer than the first six months of this year have been.  I find myself in awe of the generations of women who came before me and did so many household tasks without the benefit of a dishwasher, washing machine, pre-cooked rotisserie chickens from Wegmans…

Even with all of these time-saving devices, somehow I don’t have even remotely enough time to keep my house moderately clean, keep up with the laundry, show my face at the shop now and then, work on shop samples, keep up my blog, make fancy invitations and cakes for Anna’s birthday, and every other thing on my mental to-do list.

I can’t believe Anna’s birthday is in three days!  I also can’t believe the sheer number of things on the list of things to do before her party on Saturday…there’s just never enough time.

Swinging

The girls and I went to a park for a picnic lunch today.  Anna got her first ride on a playground swing – it’s hard to say which she liked more: swinging, or sitting on my hip and “helping” me push Carrie on the swing when it was her turn!  Both involved much giggling with glee.

Happy Fourth of July!

We didn’t get to watch any fireworks – we were spoiled for so many years by a display we could see from our house, but it didn’t happen last year either, so I guess it’s gone for good.  And we spent most of the day patriotically decluttering the house, but we did grill and spend some good family time together today.  Hope everyone had a great fourth!

Four Teeth!

Last night Anna was MISERABLE.  (So was I, apparently I picked up a stomach bug somewhere…)  And when she woke up this morning, it was clear why: the other top tooth is finally through.  So four teeth, just in time for the fourth!
