Carolyn had her third grade concert this evening. (Since she’s in a 2/3 multi-age class, she’s in the concert as a 2nd grader – she won’t be in it next year.) The kids did a fabulous job, and the concert was beautiful!

Just Smiyl!
I think Anna realizes I’m sad about her hair. So she instructed me to “smiyl” today:
Baby Curls and Big Girl Hair
The girls got hair cuts this afternoon. Carolyn just needed a trim, since we’re trying to grow her bangs out and get some length to it. But Anna really wanted short hair like mine (shoulder length, not really short) and so I let her. I didn’t realize that what was left wasn’t going to curl up so much. It’s cute, but…oh, how I will miss those long, silky ringlets.
Happy April Fool’s Day!
I started the day trying to convince Carolyn she was about to miss the bus, but she’s too smart for me.
And the meatloaf cupcakes with mashed (sweet+white) potato frosting? Not a hit. Neither girl even ate a single bite. (Though Anna did pick the bacon bit “sprinkles” off and eat those.) Meh.
Friday Photos
Taken last week, but I couldn’t resist:
Creative Spelling
Seeing as one of her spelling words was “Easter”, we figured putting each spelling word in a plastic egg would be appropriate for her creative spelling assignment this week!

Happy First Day of Spring!
She clasped her hands for pure joy and looked up in the sky and it was so blue and pink and pearly and white and flooded with springtime light that she felt as if she must flute and sing aloud herself and knew that thrushes and robins and skylarks could not possibly help it.

Watch Out for Feet-Eating Monsters
It has been unseasonably warm here. Like, open all the windows, do we maybe want to consider the A/C…nah, not yet…, break out the shorts warm. But I’m not falling for it. I haven’t switched to our summer bedding, so for now the quilt stays on…and gets kicked off every night.
Well, Anna saw it on the floor this morning (no, I hadn’t quite managed to make my bed yet, the stinker gets up at the crack of dawn) and became quite concerned. She solemnly informed me that I had better put the quilt back on the bed tonight, because…
“If you don’t have your quilt on your bed, the monsters will eat your feet.”
Straight face, matter-of-fact tone…I’m not sure if she was serious, but man, she’s going to have a tough time when it gets too hot for her quilt every night if she was!
(Now tonight I’m going to wonder if there’s a feet-eating monster lurking under my bed.)
Air Fuzzies
This morning, as I was brushing Carolyn’s hair, Anna was jumping from sunbeam to sunbeam in the hallway, clapping her hands as though to catch something in the air. She had a look of absolute delight on her face.
Me: Anna, what are you doing??
Anna: I’m trying to catch the air fuzzies!
I like “air fuzzies” much more than “dust motes”. It sounds less like I really need to vacuum. ;)
