We had a World Wide Knit in Public Day event today for the shop, and knit in the park. It was so very much fun!
Knitting
Little House Shawls
One of my favorite things to knit are small shawls – they hug your shoulders and provide a little extra bit of warmth, show off a beautiful single skein of yarn, and there are so many wonderful patterns you would never need to knit the same one twice! Unless, of course, you have two girls, and you stumble across a pattern called “Little House Shawl”.
These were fun (and super easy) to knit. More details about these projects can be found here and here.
Fiber Festival Loot!
As today is International Talk Like A Pirate Day, here are my “spoils of war” from the Fiber Festival:
Let’s see…clockwise-ish from top left:
* Patterns from various vendors.
* A “headache pillow” made from lavender & flax seed from Cherry Hill Quilters.
* Blue/green fiber is 4 oz. of Polworth from Fuzzy Bunny.
* Two skeins of Panda Sock in “Black Cherry” from Spinning Bunny.
* Cinnamon leaf handmade soap from Maggie’s Farm.
* Orange/purple-ish fiber peeking out from the back is 4 oz. of Falkland in “Autumn Sunset” from Spinning Bunny.
* Cute little floral bag is also from Cherry Hill Quilters.
* White fiber with streaks of brown/orange/pink is 8 oz. of Blue Face Leicester/silk blend from High Bid Farm.
* Adorable little white ceramic sheep is from…I can’t remember!
* Pink/brown fiber is 4 oz. of BFL/silk blend in “Chocolate Boxes” from Fiber Fancy.
* Brown curly sheep is from Cherry Hill Quilters.
* Blue-green lace yarn is alpaca/silk laceweight (plus coordinating beads) from Ellen’s 1/2-pint Farm (a kit to make the Starry Starry Night shawl shown in front pattern.)
* Two natural lip balms, Ginger Peach and Berry Plum from Fuzzy Bunny.
* And last, but not least, Chai soap also from Fuzzy Bunny.
So many new goodies! I can’t wait to finish a few things on the needles & wheel so I can start playing with it all!

Done!
The sweater is done! Look:
I can’t believe I knit a whole sweater in 17 days, that not only fits but looks really great on me too. :)
Ravelympics
Hello there, I’m Bizzy Sheep…OK, not really, but I’m knitting an entire sweater during the Olympics as Bizzy Sheep (from our Dizzy Sheep daily deal website). I have to be crazy, but the yarn, the pattern, and even the buttons conspired to make me temporarily lose my mind and agree to do this. It’s the yarn fumes, I tell you.
Baby Shower
My cousin Debbie is expecting her first child next month, so we went to her baby shower today. I’m so excited for her!
She decided not to find out whether the baby is a boy or a girl, so I knit her a cute little green, blue and white hoodie that will work for either. Anna is fabulous at modeling these things for me:
Baby Bunny Dress
I know my blog has drifted (far, far) away from any sort of creative content it might have ever had, and firmly planted itself in the realm of “mommy blog”. But every now and then I make something that I have to share. Like this:
This is a shop sample, and I only knit the very smallest size, which was listed as 6 months. Aside from the armholes being a tad bit snug on her, though, it fit Anna nearly perfectly. The yarn was so lovely to work with I was almost sorry to finish the project – it’s so soft and snuggly!
My Ravelry project page has details on the yarn and pattern. If you’re not on Ravelry, you really should go check it out. The invitations go out the same day or the next at this point, and it’s a fabulous resource even if you only knit or crochet a little bit!
Carolyn’s Classy Cardigan
I just finished a zippered cardigan for Carrie a few days ago, so we went out and took a few pictures of her wearing it…and blowing bubbles.
Knitting details are on my project page on Ravelry.
Rhinebeck, 2008
We took a whirlwind trip to Rhinebeck over the weekend (we left Saturday afternoon and came back late last night…or early this morning, depending on your point of view!) I was determined not to buy anything to spin, as I haven’t spun anything I got at Hemlock yet, and I have to confess that most of what I bought last year at Rhinebeck is also waiting patiently in my stash. However, I did buy yarn. I’ve decided this must be the year of the sock and lace weight yarns, as I seem to be running out of needles in the 2 mm to 3.5 mm range.
Someday I’ll manage to take some pictures of the pretty things I came home with!
